Biometric authentication security specialist corporation eTunnel Inc. and blockchain-based data security solution specialist corporation IBCT announced that they have signed an MOU for the joint development of an integrated solution based on biometric authentication technology and distributed data security technology. The signing ceremony took place at eTunnel Inc. headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul on June 13th.

IBCT is a blockchain specialized technology development company that has developed a decentralized data platform(DIDH) through its own blockchain mainnet and decentralized identification technology(DID, Decentralized Identifier) based on the related W3C international standards. The DIDH solution, which combines blockchain technology and data encryption technology, enables secure protection of personal and sensitive information, making it actively utilized by businesses or organizations that require data security to collect and provide various information to their customers.

As a result of this MOU, both companies plan to collaborate on the joint development of an integrated solution that combines eTunnel Inc.’s biometric authentication security technology and IBCT’s distributed data security technology. With the increasing demand for more advanced security technologies in line with Fourth Industrial Revolution, biometric authentication security technology has gained attention. In the era of Web 3.0, where data ownership returns to individuals rather than platforms or companies, the need for distributed data security technology has emerged. Therefore, the collaboration between the two companies aims to build a new integrated solution that is essential for the upcoming era.

In the meantime, eTunnel Inc. recently announced that it has been selected as a supplier of finger print authentication smart cards for the United Nations(UN) agency. Specifically, the finger print recognition speed test, various types of gate access tests, reader recognition tests, printing tests, and usability tests, totalling seven proof-of-concept(PoC) verification tests, have been successfully completed for the finger print authentication smart cards used ad identification cards for employees of the International Telecommunication Union(ITU), one of the UN agencies. eTunnel Inc. stated that they will begin delivering the smart cards within the next 2 to 3 months.

The 35 UN agencies, including the International Labour Organization(ILO), United Nations Development Programme(UNDP), United Nations Children's Fund(UNICEF), World Trade Organization(WTO), World Health Organization(WHO), World Intellectual Property Organization(WIPO), and Food and Agricultural Organization(FAO), among others, including ITU, are representive institutions. They are planning to supply finger print authentication smart cards to a maximum of one million individuals, including permanent and dispatched employees. Additionally, they will introduce a blockchain-based decentralized identifier(DID) system to integrate and manage the identification systems of various organizations. The integrated solution will enhance security and convenience by securely storing employees’ biometric authentication sensitive information through a combination with distributed data security solutions.

Alex Kim, CEO of eTunnel Inc., stated “A new integrated solution that has never been seen before will be created. By combining the advanced technologies of both companies, we aim to provide a service that is easily accessible to people worldwide and offers a high level of security.”.
